Forever in my heart

Here is a poem I found online and I feel it represents how I  feel about my career and why I do what I do.

                                               Forever In My Heart
Although I'm not their mother
I care for them each day,
I cuddle, sing and read to them
And watch them as they play.
I see each new accomplishment,
I help them grow and learn.
I understand their language,
I listen with concern.
They come to me for comfort,
And I kiss away their tears.
They proudly show their work to me,
I give the loudest cheers!
No, I 'm not their mother,
But my role is just as strong.
I nurture them and keep them safe,
Though maybe not for long.
I know someday the time will come,
When we will have to part.
But I know each child I cared for,
Is forever in my heart!

  1. I can really appreciate this poem. I have many children that I have taught that I still hold in my heart.

    1. I enjoyed reading your poem. I chuckled when I read the first line. That is what I tell the school age children at work when they do not clean up after themselves. " I am not your mother".

    2. @kerm.armstrong I still remember almost every child that I have taught

@Deanna I think I say "I am not your mother" at least once a day!

  2. I love this poem. I have never seen it before. The message is very powerful because as educators we spend just as much if not more time with the children in our care than with our own families. Like kerm.armstrong had mentioned there are so many of our children we hold dear to our heart as if they were our children. Great choice in poem.
